‘I never saw’… Chris Sutton admits he’s been shocked by 28-year-old player since he left Celtic
Chris Sutton has admitted that he is surprised by how much Ryan Christie has changed since leaving Celtic for AFC Bournemouth.
The 28-year-old midfielder has flourished with the Cherries this season under Andoni Iraola, with the Basque coach leading Bournemouth to an impressive 12 in the current Premier League standings.
And with a new manager comes a new role for Christie, who has emerged as a leader in the midfield and a player who is now tasked with sitting back rather than charging forward all the time.

And , Sutton has admitted that he didn’t think this sort of role would suit Christie given what the midfielder was like during his Celtic days.
The pundit said when asked about Christie’s role in the current Bournemouth set-up under Iraola: “I never saw Ryan Christie as that sort of player.
“In his early days at Iverness and Celtic, he was more of a forward thinking player, like a number 10. But he seems to be far more disciplined now. He is the driving force for Bournemouth.”
Ryan Christie has found his true role at Bournemouth after leaving Celtic

Christie might had the reputation of a goalscoring midfielder at Celtic, but it’s clear that the Scottish international has found his true role at Bournemouth.
And this season with Iraola on the touchline has seen Christie complete his transformation into a deep-lying playmaker and the perfect orchestrator for the Cherries.
Indeed, Bournemouth would be much lower in the Premier League standings if it wasn’t for Christie’s performances, and the former Celtic man has found his best position on the English south coast.
