El Ghazi misses Villa

He said: “I really loved England. I made some great friends and when I went backwhen I was on English soil again in the Europa League, it was like I was back home.

“I miss it a lot and yes, I miss Villa, but I’m glad to be here (at PSV) now. I had a really good conversation with the PSV director of football Marcel Brands and the manager (Ruud van Nistelrooy) and I felt loved again.

“It was really important for me and I made a decision on the back of how much the club really wanted me. On the other side, I didn’t want to leave. I really wanted to stick with Villa.

“But I had one year left only, a manager who really didn’t want me there and had I stayed there and it was just so difficult. I’d love to (come back to England). I would definitely do it. That’s no secret./p>

El Ghazi has been called ‘during a purple patch at Villa but he did not show that form often enough at Villa Park.

He did defend his goal record elsewhere in the interview and the major reason he faded from view under Gerrard is because the Englishman did not often play with wingers.

El Ghazi seems to have found his form and confidence in Eindhoven, and has the opportunity to come top of the group if results go PSV’s way tonight.
