‘I love you’: £22m Atletico Madrid star sends message to 23-year-old Liverpool player after the World Cup
Atlético Madrid star Matheus Cunha has now sent a message to Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate on after the World Cup.
꧋Konate suffered heartache in Qatar on Sunday as France lost out on penalties to Argentina after drawing 3-3.
🔥It will probably go down as the best final in the tournament’s history after the sides couldn’t be separated over 120 minutes of action.
ꦐLa Albiceleste looked to be in complete control of the game after Angel Di Maria and Lionel Messi put them two goals up in the first-half. But Kylian Mbappe scored a quickfire brace just after the 80th minute to force extra-time.
🐓Konate was surprisingly dropped back to the bench by Didier Deschamps after he put in a brilliant performance against Morocco in the semi-final. The 23-year-old was brought on for the last seven minutes of the final in extra-time, just after Messi thought he had won it for Lionel Scaloni’s side.
▨But Mbappe forced a penalty shootout after converting his second spot-kick of the game. Unfortunately for Konate though, Argentina went on to lift the trophy.
𝐆Konate took to social media yesterday following Sunday’s defeat and Cunha replied beneath the post to offer the Frenchman some support.

Cunha sends message to Konate
ꦡThe Liverpool defender posted a picture of himself walking past the World Cup trophy and wrote: “All great successes were preceded by several great failures.”
♑His France teammates flocked beneath the post to show their support, including the likes of Marcus Thuram.
ꦗHe also received a message from former Liverpool star Mamadou Sakho, who wrote: “Heads up, proud of you.”
ꦺAnd Atletico striker Cunha replied: “Ibuuuuu I love you,” alongside a heart and raising hands emoji.
ꦬCunha has been linked with a move to the Premier League recently as he looks set to leave Diego Simeone’s side in January.
🐼The likes of Arsenal, Chelsea Leeds United and Aston Villa have all been touted as possible destinations for the .
ꦓHe could be facing off against Konate on a regular basis in the future after he’s fallen down the pecking order under Simeone.

🌊Konate started three games at the World Cup and was battling it out with Dayot Upamecano for a spot in the side. He performed brilliantly in the semi-final and will have been disappointed to have not kept his place in the French side on Sunday.
ꦡBut at 23, Konate looks set to have a bright future ahead of him with France and he will now be hoping to nail down a place in Liverpool’s side after struggling with injuries over the past year.
