What Erik ten Hag did as Mohamed Salah scored Liverpool’s third vs Man United at Old Trafford
Arne Slot waltzed into Old Trafford with his Liverpool side today to take all three points and deliver a crushing blow to fellow Dutchman, Erik ten Hag.
Slot’s Liverpool side were superior throughout and a double from Luis Diaz before Salah slotted in the third meant it was an easy day at the office.
Liverpool simply dominated United throughout and there was even a poignant moment when Virgil van Dijk invited Lisandro Martinez to come his way and have a go.
Of course, for Slot’s delight, there was misery for Ten Hag.
And after going three down thanks to Salah’s goal, one of the BBC’s stadium reporting team picked up on just how frustrated Ten Hag was.

Erik ten Hag fuming after Mo Salah scores Liverpool’s third v Man United
Picking up on Ten Hag’s reaction after Salah made it three inside Old Trafford, reporter Simon Stone noted how the United manager had reacted.
“I looked over to Erik ten Hag as Mo Salah was finding the net. He had just taken a drink of water and threw the bottle down in disgust,” Stone said.
“The Manchester United boss is clearly simmering inside. This is turning into an awful day.”
Gary Neville picked up immediately on the boos inside Old Trafford as well, with Ten Hag’s frustration clearly making its way to the terraces.
Ten Hag could learn from Arne Slot already
The age old problem for Man United persisted today as they simply had no control over the midfield and surrendered the game to Liverpool.
And in that sense, Ten Hag can look at Slot and perhaps learn a thing or two.
Slot’s Liverpool dominated the middle of the field with Gravenberch, Mac Allister and Szoboszlai and United’s midfield couldn’t get near.
This has been an issue for United for some time now, while Liverpool seem to got to grips with their midfield after just a few months with the new coach.
Liverpool, put simply, were a cut above their nearest and biggest rivals.
