‘I like’: Micah Richards raves about Spurs 22-year-old who Paratici’s reportedly willing to sell

Micah Richards has praised Japhet Tanganga’s emergence at Tottenham Hotspur amid rumours of a move away.

The 22-year-old defender came through the ranks at Spurs and made his breakthrough in the 2019-20 campaign.

Tanganga made his debut in the Carabao Cup defeat to Colchester in September 2019.

He then made his Premier League bow against Liverpool in January 2020, where he excelled against the fierce Reds front line.

Tanganga looked like he could become a regular for Tottenham, but injuries and loss of form have hampered his progress somewhat.

That said, Antonio Conte has given him a decent amount of minutes since he took the Spurs reins.

Tanganga has played the full 90 minutes in Tottenham’s .

Writing in the , Richards spoke highly about Spurs’ decision to appoint Conte.

He also named Tanganga in his list of “good players” at Tottenham.

“I’m fascinated to see what is possible for Tottenham under Conte,” wrote Richards.

“If I was in charge of one of their rivals the only players I’d seriously consider buying from their squad would be Harry Kane and Son Heung-min.

Of course there are other good players, such as Hugo Lloris, Sergio Reguilon and Lucas Moura, and I like the emergence of Japhet Tanganga.

“But there is one reason Tottenham have thrust themselves into contention for a Champions League place — and that is Conte.”

Tanganga’s future remains uncertain

Tanganga remains linked with a move away, with AC Milan apparently eyeing him.

According to , the Rossoneri are in talks with Tottenham over a potential loan move for Tanganga.

Earlier this week, claimed Spurs director Fabio Paratici willing to sell him for £21million.

With 10 days remaining of the January transfer window, it remains to be seen what lies in store for Tanganga.

The likelihood is that, if he does leave, it’ll be on loan.

A stint with Milan in Serie A would certainly do him good.

He’d come back with a lot of experience in a tough league and maybe even a Scudetto winner’s medal.
