Football journalist Dean Jones has claimed that Bayern Munich star Serge Gnabry really is on Arsenal’s long transfer wish list.

Following the signing of Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City, Mikel Arteta and Edu are keen to further bolster their squad. The Brazilian will likely be the Gunners’ marquee signing this summer, but there is one player who can take Arsenal’s transfer business to a whole new level – Gnabry.

Dean Jones says Serge Gnabry is on Arsenal’s list

Just last week, it was reported that Arsenal are keeping tabs on Gnabry’s contract situation at Bayern Munich. The German has entered the final year of his contract, and he’s yet to agree a new deal.

then claimed that Bayern are really keen to tie him down to a new contract, but if they can’t, they are ready to sell him for around £35 million.

Fabrizio Romano claimed this week that Gnabry is ‘not on the Arsenal list,’ which crushed many Gooners’ dreams in this summer’s transfer window.

However, Dean Jones has just come out and claimed the opposite, and there may just be some hope left for Arsenal supporters.

The journalist told : “Gnabry is someone they will have to look into and obviously they know a lot about already. It’s true that he’s not a serious option at this moment in time, they’re not aggressively going after him, but he is a background option.

“I know for a fact he’s on their longer list.”

Arsenal have been trying really hard to sign Raphinha from Leeds United, but it looks like they’ve fallen behind in the race. The Brazilian is far more likely to join Chelsea or Barcelona this summer, which is a blow for the Gunners.

Raphinha really would’ve been a fantastic signing for Arsenal. He’s excellent on the ball, has bags of tricks in his locker and can score and create goals on a consistent basis. Missing out on him wouldn’t be ideal, but when one door closes, another opens.

Gnabry, branded as ‘world class’, is arguably a much better player than Raphinha. He has proven his class at the highest level, and his record at Bayern Munich really is fantastic for someone who mostly plays out wide.

It still seems extremely unlikely that Gnabry will leave Bayern Munich for Arsenal, but if Edu can get this done, it may well be his best move since he was appointed as the Gunners’ technical director.
