‘I know’: Arsenal player is really hurt by the criticism he’s had from his national press – journalist
Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus is absolutely desperate to score for Brazil at the World Cup in Qatar.
That is what journalist Charles Watts has said on about the 25-year-old, who has come on as a sub in both his country’s matches so far.
It has been reported that Jesus and Gunners teammate Gabriel Martinelli are set to start Brazil’s final group game against Cameroon tomorrow.
And Watts says Jesus was badly stung by criticism over his failure to score at World Cup 2018 and is so keen to put right this time around.

Watts said: “We could well be seeing Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus get a start tomorrow. Gabriel Jesus, I really hope he scores.
“I know how much it means to him to score in the World Cup. He got such criticism last time when he didn’t score and Brazil didn’t win it.
“I know people close to the Brazil squad and Brazilian journalists I’ve spoken to about that all say how much that impacted Gabriel Jesus.
“In the first two games, when he’s come off the bench, it’s been noticeable how desperate he is to score, you can see when he hasn’t been passed the ball when he’s been in a good position, he gets angry and frustrated.”
Tottenham’s Richarlison is Brazil’s first choice striker now and he has two goals to show for his first two matches at the tournament.
But with Brazil already through, Tite is expected to ring the changes for the Cameroon game and that will likely see Martinelli and Jesus come in.
What fantastic options they are to have at your disposal from a Brazil point of view and it seems like Jesus will be so determined to find the back of the net.
