‘I have run out of superlatives’: BBC pundit claims Newcastle star was ‘breathtaking’ v Everton
Newcastle United forward Allan Saint-Maximin has been described by BBC Sport pundit Neil Lennon as “breathtaking” against Everton.
The Magpies climbed out of the Premier League relegation zone on Tuesday night thanks to their 3-1 win over the Toffees at St James’ Park.
Eddie Howe’s charges followed up their 1-0 victory at Leeds last time out with a solid triumph over Frank Lampard’s Toffees.

Everton took the lead in the 36th minute due to a Jamaal Lascelles own goal. But Newcastle levelled moments after the restart through another own goal.
Lascelles’ header hit the crossbar, hit Mason Holgate and went in.
Ryan Fraser then put Newcastle ahead, making it 2-1 from close range in the 56th minute of the match.
And then, a magnificent free kick from Kieran Trippier sealed the win ten minutes from time.
Although Saint-Maximin didn’t get on the scoresheet, he set up the second goal and ran Everton’s defence ragged all night.
The 24-year-old weighed in with two efforts on target, made three key passes, completed 10 dribbles and even chipped in with a tackle and an interception.
Prior to Newcastle’s third goal, Lennon said on : “I have run out of superlatives for Allan Saint-Maximin.”
“He just makes things happen. He is unplayable at times. What a player he is – huge for Newcastle at the minute.”
And after Saint-Maximin set up Joe Willock for a shot that hit the post, Lennon : “Allan Saint-Maximin just created something out of nothing.
“He is breathtaking to watch. What a special player and probably the difference between the two teams.”
