‘I expect that to happen’: Campbell says Arteta will make two big changes for Arsenal v Newcastle

Kevin Campbell spoke on yesterday about the two changes he thinks Mikel Arteta will make for Arsenal v Newcastle United.
The Gunners need to bounce back after their 4-0 drubbing at Anfield against Liverpool last weekend. Arteta’s young players made plenty of mistakes, and the Arsenal boss has a number of tough decisions to make.
One such dilemma comes at left-back. Nuno Tavares was brilliant in Kieran Tierney’s absence, but the young defender made a costly error against Liverpool, and his run in the Premier League could come to an end as a result.
Campbell believes Arteta will turn to Tierney again today. He also feels Martin Odegaard will get a start in the number 10 position in place of Alexandre Lacazette.
Campbell predicts Tierney and Odegaard will start for Arsenal v Newcastle
Speaking ahead of the game against the Magpies at the Emirates this afternoon, Campbell was quizzed about the changes in personnel he thinks Arteta would make.
He said: “I would bring back Tierney as left-back because he is the number one. I think Tavares has done excellent, but it’s time for Tierney to get his position back because there are some big games coming up and we need his experience. Tavares – his time will come.
“And, I’d bring Odegaard back in midfield, in that number 10 slot. I’d bring his young legs back and his football brain back. I then believe we’ll see more out of Smith Rowe, Saka and Aubameyang.
“I expect that to happen, it might not, but that’s the two changes I would make.”

TBR View:
The change at left-back is very likely. As well as Tavares has done for the Gunners in Tierney’s absence, it’s time for the first-choice to take his spot back ahead of a very important run of games in the Premier League.
As for Odegaard, it will be interesting to see what happens. Lacazette has done fairly well in his unorthodox number 10 role, but the Norwegian is a more natural option in that position.
But, the Frenchman’s link-up with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is fantastic, which may play a part in Arteta’s thinking.
However, if Odegaard does replace him today, it wouldn’t be a bad move at all as the Norwegian is capable of unlocking any defence in the world with his outstanding vision.
