Over the last few days, AS Roma midfielder Jordan Veretout has been linked with a return to the Premier League with Tottenham Hotspur said to be keen on his services.

Gianluca di Marzio claimed earlier this week that the Giallorossi would love a swap deal that would see Veretout join Spurs and Tanguy Ndombele go the other way to reunite with Jose Mourinho at the Italian capital.

It is no secret that Tottenham are trying to get Ndombele out of the club. It just hasn’t worked out for him in North London and a move away this month would be the best thing for all parties.

Veretout, who has been excellent in the Serie A for a few years now, would’ve been a very decent option for Spurs as well. However, it doesn’t look like it will happen now.

Agent: Jordan Veretout will not join Tottenham this month

Veretout has had a decent season at Roma, despite what rumours have led some Tottenham fans to believe.

The 28-year-old has four goals and eight assists to his name in all competitions this season, which is an excellent record for a central midfielder at this point of the campaign.

The Frenchman, , would’ve fit in Antonio Conte’s system really well, but a swap deal that would see him move to North London just won’t happen this month, says his agent Mario Giuffredi.

He told : “A swap Ndombélé-Veretout? I categorically deny. He will stay at Roma at least until the end of the season.”

Spurs will still try to get rid of Ndombele before the window shuts in nine days time. The Frenchman has been linked with a number of clubs, including Mauricio Pochettino’s Paris Saint-Germain.

Tottenham would ideally like to bring in another midfielder, but it will not be easy.

However, Fabio Paratici has to find a way to bring in a replacement for Ndombele, especially if Dele Alli is pushed out of the club in the coming days as well.

It will be interesting to see who Conte will make a move for. Sadly for Tottenham fans, it will not be Veretout, at least not in this month’s transfer window.
