‘I can’t see them’: Mark Lawrenson predicts Liverpool vs Newcastle result; expects three goals
Mark Lawrenson that he cannot see anything other than a comfortable Liverpool win when they meet Newcastle United in the Premier League on Thursday.
The Reds look to be probably the worst opponents Newcastle could have after a heavy defeat. Eddie Howe’s men were beaten 4-0 at Leicester City on Sunday.

No team has conceded more than the Magpies this season. And they are about to face the side who have scored considerably more than every other team in the Premier League.
Liverpool have now won seven in a row in all competitions. And with the title race seemingly starting to get into full swing, Jurgen Klopp’s men will know how important it is that they take three points from their clash with Newcastle.
And Lawrenson suggested that he has little doubt that Liverpool will indeed get that win to put pressure on their title rivals.

“When you consider Liverpool’s attacking power and think about Newcastle’s weakness at the back, then there is only going to be one outcome, really,” , as he predicted a 3-0 home win.
“We saw again in their heavy defeat against Leicester what a big job Magpies manager Eddie Howe has has on his hands to keep them up, and I can’t see them getting a result here that will help them out much there.”
Newcastle looking to somehow replicate previous performance against Liverpool
Newcastle will hope that they can evoke memories of their performance at Anfield last season. On that occasion, Joe Willock scored in stoppage-time to earn a point as they went on a superb run to pull away from danger.
Of course, Thursday’s game will be considerably different. Fans will be inside the stadium. And with that, Newcastle face the daunting prospect of playing under the lights at Anfield.
The Magpies also had some momentum at that stage last season, having won their previous two. Liverpool meanwhile, were battling to make the top four.
The two clubs look to have moved further apart since then. And it is therefore, hard to see Newcastle adding to their points tally.
