Fabrizio Romano says Liverpool have been scouting £60m Euro 2024 star for a ‘long time’

Liverpool fans will be hoping their transfer business ramps up with the Euros set to reach its climax in Germany tonight.

As we all know, it’s Spain and England who will go head to head for the trophy as England look to end nearly 60 years of hurt.

For Liverpool fans, though, the focus is on their club really rather than England and with Arne Slot taking over from Jurgen Klopp, the Reds are set for one of their biggest seasons in years.

Slot is keen to not only work with the squad he has but he’s also hoping to add a few new players to freshen the group up and add quality.

And according to Fabrizio Romano, the Reds are very much interested in signing one of the players set to step foot on the field in Berlin tonight.

Fabrizio Romano confirms Liverpool’s interest in Marc Guehi

Speaking on his channel and responding to a question from a fan about Guehi, Romano has confirmed that the England man is indeed a player of interest.

“I can tell you my friend that Liverpool have been scouting the player for a long time, he’s a player they like, for sure,” Romano said.

“But at the moment I can tell you that Liverpool are not negotiating for Marc Guehi. The situation at the moment is quiet around him, obviously. With the Euros so after the Euros we will see.

“The appreciation of the player from Liverpool is there I can tell you. But in terms of a bid, different story.”

Liverpool are known to be in the market for a new defender after letting Joel Matip leave at the end of the season.

Virgil van Dijk is also now into his 30s and there is a feeling at the club that they need to get a long-term replacement in somewhere along the line.

Guehi, then – who could cost up to £60m – might well be that man after proving himself further in the Euros this summer.
