Cazorla suggests he tried to come back and play for Arsenal again
He admitted: “I feel a little bit frustrated because I always tried to come back and play for this club.
“I asked when I got back fit if I could come and play pre-season with the club but they told me it’s so difficult for them and they cannot wait for me.
“I was trying to play again in the Emirates and it’s something that I can’t do.”
Cazorla left in the summer of 2018 having not made an appearance for the Gunners since a 6-0 win against Ludogorets in October 2016.
Wenger took up an option in Cazorla’s contract to keep him for a further year, just to give the player some of peace of mind while he worked on his rehabilitation – but he would never play for Arsenal again.
It was a really serious injury which prematurely ended the now 37-year-old’s Gunners career and that clearly still rankles with him.
Cazorla was so popular with Arsenal fans and teammates alike and he is a modern legend at the club, with the highlight of his time there potentially the free-kick in the 2014 FA Cup final.
