Hugo Rodallega urged Newcastle to sign Rangers star in 2020, now Toon owners are reportedly keen
Back in 2020, Hugo Rodallega told Newcastle they should consider a move to sign Alfredo Morelos – and now, they are ‘looking closely’ at doing so.
Morelos, 25, continues to shine for Steven Gerrard’s Rangers – taking his tally of goals to 99 in just 196 games. He has also laid on 45 assists.
The Colombia international has been regularly linked with a move to the Premier League. Now, Newcastle’s new owners are said to be keen.
that Morelos has attracted interest from Newcastle ahead of the January window. They are keeping tabs on the South American.
Just over a year ago, Rodallega was speaking about fellow countryman Morelos – urging him to jump at the chance of working under Steve Bruce.

“If he gets the chance to work with Steve Bruce – someone I know very well – I know he would enjoy that,”
“Bruce is a coach who gives his strikers confidence. It’s time for him to go to a league that is more demanding. That would be perfect for Alfredo.”
Newcastle eye Rangers ace Morelos: Rodallega advice should be heeded
Newcastle need cover for Callum Wilson – a striker that offers them something different. Rangers star Morelos certainly does that.
The ex-HJK Helsinki striker is a powerhouse, occupies two central defenders and winds up opponents. He scores and creates goals.
A brilliant forward, Odsonne Edouard is proof that a striker in Scottish football can come south and shine. He might cost £15million, ish.
But if Newcastle have the chance to sign Morelos and heed Rodallega’s advice then they certainly have to – ahead of the January window.
