Huddersfield Town striker Karlan Grant shows Rangers what he can do with Premier League brace
Back in mid-January, Rangers were keen on approaching Charlton Athletic striker Karlan Grant and discussing a pre-contract agreement, .
Grant’s Charlton contract was due to expire in the summer but he instead opted to join Premier League side Huddersfield Town.
Even when he joined, Huddersfield looked doomed and resigned to the drop but Grant was brought in as one for the future.
And Rangers will already be regretting this missed opportunity as Grant put West Ham to the sword in yesterday’s Premier League encounter at The London Stadium.
In his sixth game for the Terriers, Grant set his side on their way to what should have been a comfortable away victory in East London.
The 21-year-old popped up in the box to put Huddersfield 2-1 up with a clinical finish before rifling in a stunning long-range strike to extend the lead to 3-1 in the second-half.
Huddersfield eventually lost the match 4-3 but Grant’s individual effort was dazzling and his new club are reaping the rewards of the talented youngster.
Steven Gerrard would be wishing he had the ex-England under-19 starlet in his side as a young, hungry striker who is likely to improve significantly over the next few years.
Grant now has three goals in six Premier League matches – including a strike against Arsenal – to add to his 14 league goals for Charlton this season.
His goal scoring record speaks for himself and it is clear Grant would have been a strong signing for Rangers.
