Huddersfield owner makes astonishing claim about Leeds United
The owner of Huddersfield Town, Phil Hodgkinson, that the Terriers have a better squad than table-topping Leeds United.
It’s a remarkable assessment considering Danny Cowley’s team currently have 29 points fewer than Marcelo Bielsa’s rampant Leeds.
The Terriers are 18th in the division and before the hiatus due to the global health pandemic, they were facing a battle against a second successive relegation.

The final game before the break saw Leeds confirm their superiority on their local rivals with a 2-0 win over the Terriers at Elland Road.
Hodgkinson is still of the belief that Cowley’s squad is better than the one in place at Elland Road, however.
“When we got promoted we got promoted because we had a manager who had a system that was better than the players we had, which is what is happening at Leeds. Bielsa’s way of playing is better than that squad.
“If you look at that Leeds game, if you cut those two squads together, I would not say, in my personal opinion, that Leeds have got better players than us barring one or two. I believe we’ve got better players in most positions.
“On the day the way we played, they just outplayed us, it was the way they played. That’s no criticism of our manager at all, quite the opposite, but they just had a better system.”
Huddersfield have suffered a hangover from their disastrous Premier League campaign last season.
Quality
Jan Siewart departed early door and Cowley has slowly but surely steadied the ship.

To suggest the Huddersfield squad is better than that of Leeds is comical, however, with the Whites a quality outfit.
Cowley utilised the loan market well in January with Emile Smith Rowe being a particular hit from Arsenal.
Huddersfield supporters will hope that Cowley is the man to revive the club’s fortunes. For now, however, they remain in the West Yorkshire shadows of Leeds.
