How Twitter reacted to Kieran Gibbs’ move from Arsenal to West Brom
After a summer transfer window rift with speculation of an Emirates exit, Kieran Gibbs was finally confirmed as a West Brom player on Wednesday afternoon in a move understood to cost £7 million.
It had been thought that the 27-year-old was on the brink of joining Marco Silva at Watford but, according to , the move broke down after the two clubs failed to agree personal terms.
West Brom boss Tony Pulis has wasted no time in snapping up the England left-back to bolster his squad, with the Baggies’ confirming that Gibbs has signed a four-year deal at the club.
Speaking about his new arrival, the West Brom boss said:
“Kieran’s a good age and has made over 200 appearances for Arsenal, represented his country and has Premier League and Champions League experience. To add these qualities to our squad is exactly what we’re looking for.”
As Pulis alludes to, the 27-year-old made 230 appearances for the Arsenal first-team since coming through the academy as a 14-year-old, winning three FA Cups and earning his debut England call-up.
And it was Gibbs himself who took to social media to confirm the news…

Kieran Gibbs was a true professional, hampered by injury but always gave his best. The sort of character we need.

Some doom and gloom around obviously but take a moment for Kieran Gibbs, no crying from him, just got on with it.
