How Twitter reacted to Alex Chamberlain rejecting Chelsea in favour of Liverpool

As the end of the transfer window edges ever closer, clubs are making their final attempts to add players to their ranks. Chelsea, who have signed Alvaro Morata and Antonio Rudiger, among others, have suffered a late blow to their plans, after Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain rejected a move to the London club.

The Arsenal man is expected to leave the Gunners, with the Blues and Liverpool vying for his signature. The Englishman, who is valued at £40 million, wants to play in central midfield, as opposed to the right wing-back position Arsene Wenger is currently using him in.

Chelsea also wanted Oxlade-Chamberlain to improve their defensive options, but the England international has rejected their offer. Instead, the 24-year-old is waiting for Liverpool to make a bid for his services, according to .

The Reds’ offer will need to be around £40m as Arsenal are holding out for a large bid, which is surprising considering that Oxlade-Chamberlain is in the last year of his contract. The Englishman is set to be available for free next season, so the Gunners might be wise to let him leave before the end of the summer.

After the 24-year-old rejected Chelsea, a lot of reaction has been aired on social media. Here’s how Twitter reacted:
