How Twitter reacted to Antonio Rudiger’s £29m move from Roma to Chelsea

After winning the Confederations Cup with Germany, Antonio Rudiger was greeted with more positive news after Chelsea signed the centre-back from Roma, as announced on their .  claim that the deal is worth an initial fee of £29 million with the German international putting pen to paper on a five year contract.

The defender was impressive for Germany throughout the Confederations Cup and his displays were clearly enough to convince the Blues to bring him in. Rudiger also had an impressive season for his club. The towering centre-back appeared 40 times for Roma, helping them to a second-placed finish behind champions Juventus.

The 24-year-old joins Chelsea at a crucial time though, the Blues are preparing for their title defence having let John Terry join Aston Villa on a free while Nathan Ake has joined Bournemouth permanently, so a new man was certainly needed.

After his move, the new man said: “It’s a great feeling because not every player has the opportunity to join a huge club like this. I am looking forward to meeting up with my new team-mates and I’m very proud to officially become a Chelsea player.”

Technical Director Michael Emenalo added: “Antonio is still young but is experienced at club and international level and possesses all the requisite attributes to thrive in the Premier League. We have been aware of him for some time and we are confident he will fit in well with the squad.”

Chelsea fans should be pleased then, surely? Here’s how Twitter reacted…
