How Tottenham rated as Liverpool earnt a crucial victory at Anfield

Liverpool secured their first win of the year after powering past top-four rivals Tottenham in a crucial match for both team’s European ambitions at Anfield on Saturday night.

Two goals in the space of two minutes from the returning Sadio Mane blew the visitors away, and it could have been worse for Spurs had it not been for a string of fine stops from Hugo Lloris.

Jurgen Klopp’s side maintained their high intensity throughout the second-half, diminishing any hopes that their opponents had of mounting a comeback by pressing them back.

The result put an end to Tottenham’s eight-match unbeaten run in the Premier League, but they remain in second place in the table on goal difference ahead of Manchester City’s match tomorrow.

Hugo Lloris – Arguably could have done a lot better with Lallana’s shot in the build-up to Liverpool’s second, failing to clear his lines properly. Saved extremely well twice to prevent Mane a first-half hat-trick, and wasn’t helped by his defence on a disappointing day. 7.
