How Tottenham’s players are feeling about Ange Postecoglou’s sacking now
It’s almost been a week since Ange Postecoglou was sacked by Tottenham, and the dust is starting to settle.
Indeed, Tottenham already have a new manager in the shape of Thomas Frank, and, as time goes on, there’ll be less and less chat about Postecoglou and Spurs.
However, for some, this is still a very raw situation. Ange Postecoglou has been sacked after winning Tottenham’s first trophy in 17 years, and according to Tom Barclay, some players within the Spurs squad aren’t happy with this decision.
Micky van de Ven has already spoken out about Postecoglou’s sacking, and according to Barclay, there are many within the Spurs squad who feel the same way.

Tottenham squad unhappy with Ange Postecoglou sacking
According to Barclay, there are players in the Tottenham squad who are unhappy with the sacking of Ange Postecoglou.
The journalist says that he’s heard from sources that many players feel the same way as Van de Ven in that they believe sacking Postecoglou was a strange decision.
“The other day Micky van de Ven spoke while on Dutch duty, and, personally, from what I’m hearing about some of the players since Postecoglou went, he kind of speaks for the players when he says that he thinks it was a strange decision and that the players didn’t have any say in the decision to sack Postecoglou,” Barclay said.
“There are players in the squad who won’t have been happy with it, but players are professionals and they move on quite quickly.”
What did Micky van de Ven say about Ange Postecoglou?
Barclay says many at Tottenham agree with Van de Ven about Postecoglou, so what did the defender actually say?
The centre-back wasn’t holding his words when discussing this situation, claiming that he found Postecoglou’s sacking strange.
“That was ultimately a choice from the club. We, as players, have little to say about that. Of course, he is the first coach in a long time who has won a prize and has had success at Spurs. So if you look at it that way, it is of course a strange choice.
“It is a choice from the club about which we have little to say, so we will see what happens now. Of course, we see some rumours about the coach of Brentford (Thomas Frank), who it will probably be. So yes, a choice from the club about which we have little to say.
“I think a lot of players were good with him (Postecoglou). And of course, what I say, he is the first coach who has brought success to Spurs in a long time. That also shows that he has a certain quality. That also means that he has a winning mentality. 100 per cent.
“From that, you would of course say that it is strange that he was fired. What we have shown in the Premier League is, of course, unacceptable. That would, of course, have multiple factors, but that would not only have been the coach.”
Tottenham’s staff were also shocked after Postecoglou’s sacking due to the fact Daniel Levy’s name wasn’t attached to the statement.
As Barclay says, Tottenham’s players will have to be professional about this and move on quickly from Postecoglou, because, in football, there really is no time to dwell on the past.
Postecoglou is gone and Frank is the new manager, and there’s not much the Tottenham players can do about that decision.
