How Tottenham have responded to news they have agreed a deal for Real Betis’ Johnny Cardoso
Tottenham Hotspur’s deadline day has not been one to remember with a serious lack of business either way in north London.
For Ange Postecoglou, this summer has seen considerable change made with plenty of players departing over the course of the window.
And Friday offered the expectation for more players to be offloaded by Tottenham in a busy end to the market.
However, it has been anything but with Spurs being one of the quietest teams across the entire league.
But there has been some reports suggesting Tottenham have agreed a deal to potentially sign Johnny Cardoso from Real Betis in the future.

Tottenham have agreed to sign Johnny Cardoso
In what is perhaps the strangest deal of the entire summer, Tottenham have agreed terms to have first choice on signing Real Betis midfielder Cardoso.
This deal has surfaced as Tottenham have held talks with Real Betis over the potential sale of Giovani Lo Celso.
But the terms of the potential deal are utterly bizarre from Betis’ point of view.

According to Alasdair Gold, Tottenham are remaining tight lipped on the matter when it comes to their reported interest in Cardoso.
‘Tottenham have remained silent about any such agreement and if it comes out officially in the public domain it is likely to come from the Betis side,’ Gold said on .
‘It’s a strange deal for a Premier League team but is one that’s more commonplace on the continent and other parts of the world, and it’s a way of Spurs essentially getting a better deal for Lo Celso, but down the line.’
What are Tottenham’s Johnny Cardoso terms
Tottenham will have the first call on whether they want to sign Cardoso at a later date with a fee already set at a believed £25m.
But if Tottenham choose not to purchase the player, their agreement will turn into a sell-on clause where they will take home some of the money if he is actually sold.
It is certainly something which no Tottenham fans would have expected coming into deadline day.
However, the most important thing is they will now potentially be getting Lo Celso off the books if the deal is to go ahead.
