How Nottingham Forest really feel about their chances of signing James McAtee from Man City

TBR Football understands that Nottingham Forest is the most likely destination in the Premier League for Manchester City midfielder James McAtee.

However, Forest face strong competition from the Bundesliga with several clubs also keen on the England U-21 captain.

McAtee just captained the young Three Lions team to win the European Championships over the summer, which will have only further increased the interest in him.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side could need to replace Morgan Gibbs-White, who’s linked to Tottenham, and McAtee is a player they would love to sign.

Nottingham Forest have made a strong case to sign James McAtee

Nottingham Forest believe they have put forward a very good case to James McAtee and have advanced things in the last week, TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey can confirm.

The Midlands club are the most likely option in England for him, but McAtee has serious options in Germany, as TBR Football has reported.

But at this stage, Frankfurt are the favourites in Germany, but there are a number in the shape of RB Leipzig, Dortmund and others also keeping tabs.

Manchester City are believed to be open to selling the midfielder for just £20 million, which would represent brilliant value.

The former Premier League champions are open to selling and for so cheap because he now has just 12 months left on his current deal.

Tottenham will be interested to see Forest’s move for the England youth international, given they are looking to sign Gibbs-White.

TBR Football can reveal that Gibbs-White wants to join Tottenham and the North London club remain confident that they’ll eventually get a deal done.

Napoli rival Nottingham Forest to sign Dan Ndoye

TBR Football understands that Napoli have been pushing to sign Forest target Dan Ndoye, but have been unable to agree on terms.

Forest remain in talks with Ndoye, but he is continuing talks with Napoli and also Bologna over a new deal. Currently, Napoli are not amused, but sources tell us they are still favourites.

Bailey exclusively told TBR Football: “Dan Ndoye is a player Forest have liked for a long time, and now they have held talks, they could get him, but it is not easy.

“I’m told talks have gone well with Ndoye’s camp, and Forest think he would be a great fit for Nuno’s system, but there are others, particularly Napoli. Forest are trying for him.

“And they would love McAtee, too, but again, he would not be an easy win given the competition from Germany.”
