How much Newcastle have actually offered for Marc Guehi as Crystal Palace consider latest bid

Newcastle United are hopeful of a top-six finish this season after narrowly missing out on European football last term.

They’ve had a relatively quiet window by their own standards but have still made three new additions to bolster their ranks.

Newcastle’s latest signing William Osula joins Lloyd Kelly and Odysseas Vlachodimos through the door and now they’re looking to strengthen their defence.

Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi has been identified by Newcastle and TBR can now exclusively share the latest update on where the deal currently lies.

Newcastle submitted £60m bid for Marc Guehi

Speaking exclusively to TBR, Graeme Bailey shared the latest update on Newcastle’s pursuit of Marc Guehi.

“Talks are ongoing, (the bid) hasn’t been rejected,” Bailey said.

“Understood the offer including all add-ons is around £60m which is still short of Palace’s valuation.

“They want at least £65m which does likely mean more than that.

“As we stand, talks are ongoing but to get him they are going to have to make a fourth bid.”

So, at this stage, Guehi is no closer to joining Newcastle and there are some reports which suggest they could look elsewhere…

Newcastle could turn to Joachim Anderson instead

If Newcastle fail to strike an agreement for Guehi, they could turn their focus to his teammate Joachim Anderson instead.

TBR reported on Tuesday morning that Newcastle are interested in Anderson, who is thought to be the significantly cheaper alternative target.

Palace are demanding around £40m for the Denmark international, so perhaps The Magpies should turn their focus toward him, thus freeing up funds to strengthen other areas.

A telling few days await on Tyneside.
