How much money Radu Dragusin has sacrificed to join Tottenham

Radu Dragusin has rejected a move to Bayern Munich in order to join Tottenham.

That is a huge decision to make on a footballing front, and it also sounds as though this was a huge decision to make financially as well.

Indeed, according to Alasdair Gold, speaking on his , Dragusin actually turned down the chance to double his salary at Bayern Munich in order to join Tottenham.

Dragusin turned down double the money deal

Gold shared what he knows about the defender.

“We got the news that the Ange Postecoglou project at Tottenham was more important to him than Bayern’s late move and what sounds like a hefty wad of cash on offer each week. It sounds like they were more than doubling the salary on offer from Spurs,” Gold said.

“Wow, did he show that he wants to go to Spurs, that’s a big decision with a young footballer to turn down a huge amount of money each week for a reasonable amount of money each week to be fair.

Might regret it

While everyone involved in this deal is probably on a high right now, we have to be real and admit that Dragusin may live to regret this decision.

Turning down big money is one thing, but turning down big money to be the third-choice centre-back at Tottenham is another.

We’d understand it if Spurs were guaranteeing more gametime, but with Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven the bona fide first picks at Spurs, we can’t help but feel that Dragusin could end up regretting moving to a less successful club to play less football on a smaller wage.

Of course, we could be completely wrong and Dragusin could establish himself as a key player and be hugely successful at Spurs, but, in our view, this is a decision that could backfire.
