How much Liverpool are willing to spend on Alexander Isak, it could tempt Newcastle United into sale
TBR Football can now exclusively reveal what Liverpool are ready to do after Alexander Isak told Newcastle he is looking to leave.
The Sweden international has just blown the transfer window wide open.
TBR Football understand Isak recently shocked Newcastle by asking for £300,000-a-week to sign a new deal, and his representatives have now told the Magpies a renewal is not a priority for the striker.
Now, sources confirm to TBR Football that Liverpool are prepared to shatter the British transfer record to bring Alexander Isak to Anfield from Newcastle this summer.
Exclusive: Liverpool willing to spend over £120m on Alexander Isak
Graeme Bailey – Chief Correspondent at TBR Football – has now been informed that Liverpool are preparing to bid over £120m to sign the Swede following this new development.
We understand Isak has given priority to Liverpool throughout the window – a message which was relayed to Arsenal and Chelsea after they made approaches.
Bailey says: “Isak has been Richard Hughes’ dream striker target since last year, I am told. They made an approach for him which was based on the fact they felt the player wanted to move.
“Liverpool are prepared to break the British record for Isak. They won’t go to £150m – I believe – but they could go above £120m and I am not convinced Newcastle say no to that.”
The Newcastle No.14 has impressively scored 54 goals in 86 Premier League appearances since his £63m move from Real Sociedad in August 2022 – also providing ten assists.
The regret Newcastle have over Alexander Isak
TBR Football understand Newcastle regret their decision not to focus on renewing Isak’s contract last summer – a time where they prioritised tying Anthony Gordon down to fresh terms.
Since then, the man born in Solna has emerged as one of the greatest strikers on the planet, scoring 27 goals in 42 games across all competitions last season and helping Newcastle win the Carabao Cup – also securing UEFA Champions League qualification by finishing fifth in the Premier League.
Isak still has three years remaining on a deal which expires in June 2028, although Liverpool are now prepared to test Newcastle’s resolve after becoming aware of his situation.
