How much Arsenal are actually willing to pay for Benjamin Sesko amid colossal £93m asking price rumours
Arsenal’s striker search now appears to be heading in the direction of RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko.
Mikel Arteta has been desperate to sign a new number nine at Arsenal for some time, and the Gunners tried to sign Benjamin Sesko last summer.
Indeed, after news of Gabriel Jesus’ injury in January, Arsenal made fresh enquiries about Sesko but they were swiftly told that a deal would not be possible mid-season.
However, following RB Leipzig’s failure to qualify for any form of European football next season, it’s believed that Sesko is ready to leave the club — encouraging news for Arsenal.
And when it comes to the striker’s popularity in north London, Sesko now has ‘universal backing’ at Arsenal, something that might not be said of Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyokeres.
Arsenal decide how much they want to pay for Benjamin Sesko
That being said, journalist Ben Jacobs has now provided a somewhat encouraging update in terms of Arsenal’s Sesko pursuit.
Arsenal have been in contact with Leipzig very recently and are willing to table a serious offer.
But amid rumours that Sesko could cost this summer, Jacobs confirmed that Arsenal are hoping to secure a deal close to £60m.
Whether Leipzig will agree to transfer around that mark remains to be seen, but if they do, it appears that a move could move very quickly.

Speaking on The Football Terrace, Jacobs shared: “Sesko, Arsenal have made contact with Leipzig over the last three days.
“They have discussed whether or not there is flexibility beneath the variable release clause set at the moment at around €80m.
“That’s why that one is taking time, because Arsenal want to do Sesko for €70m or within that ball park, and I think if Leipzig show flexibility, there is a concrete possibility that that one advances in the next few days.”
Benjamin Sesko is the perfect partner for Kai Havertz
Of course, when considering which striker Arsenal should sign this summer, Kai Havertz really should come into the thinking.
Havertz will still regularly play as a striker for Arteta, even if he might now drop back into midfield on some occasions.
Arteta needs a striker who can have an explosive impact when switching in for Havertz, and Sesko is exactly that.
Some fans are wary of Arsenal signing Sesko because he’s not the finished product at 22-years-old, but the striker’s rawness could benefit the Gunners at times.
Arsenal don’t need another player who’s intricate around the box, someone desperate to come deep and link play.
Arteta should be seeking a striker who simply wants to score and crash into the box, and Sesko is exactly that.
Andrea Berta might love Gyokeres’ talent, but Sesko is the right choice for Arsenal this summer.
