How many goals Darwin Nunez has scored in his last 30 appearances for Liverpool
Darwin Nunez endured another difficult night for Liverpool at Girona on Tuesday.
The Uruguay international missed a couple of glorious opportunities to put Liverpool ahead in a game Arne Slot has already admitted was below his expectations in terms of his side’s performance.
Ultimately, the Reds needed a penalty from Mohamed Salah to secure a 1-0 win and remain top of the UEFA Champions League with a 100% record.
While Darwin Nunez is obviously contributing to a fantastic team effort this season – Liverpool have lost just once in 22 games – supporters want more from the man who cost an upfront fee of £64m in June 2022, potentially rising to £85m, and his goal record across the last 30 games proves them right.
Darwin Nunez must improve
In his last 30 appearances across all competitions for Liverpool, the South American has only scored four goals.
Game | Goals |
Liverpool 3-1 Sheffield United (4th April 2024) | 1 |
Liverpool 3-0 Bournemouth (21st September 2024) | 1 |
RB Leipzig 0-1 Liverpool (23rd October 2024) | 1 |
Liverpool 2-0 Aston Villa (9th November 2024) | 1 |
In total, Nunez, who Pep Guardiola likes, has netted 36 goals in 115 appearances for Liverpool since his move from Benfica – along with 19 assists – which is not a great record at all.
It means the Liverpool No.9 has averaged a goal every 3.19 games for the Reds, which – while not an atrocious record – is not befitting of a man who is currently the third most expensive player in the club’s history behind Virgil van Dijk and Alisson Becker.
Slot did not seem sold on Nunez before Diogo Jota suffered an injury, leaving the Uruguayan on the bench for the entirety of the opening day 2-0 win over Ipswich, while not giving him a Premier League start until the 3-0 victory over Bournemouth six games into the season.
Therefore, it will be interesting to see what happens with the 25-year-old when the Portugal international returns.
Arne Slot could sell Darwin Nunez at Liverpool in 2025
It wouldn’t surprise us to see the man from Artigas sold in 2025.

Liverpool were happy to sell Nunez last summer – and were hoping Atletico Madrid would come in for the enigmatic striker before they eventually secured an £81m deal for Julian Alvarez from Manchester City.
Slot seems to be playing the Liverpool No.9 out of necessity right now, with Jota and Federico Chiesa yet to return to full fitness, so while Nunez’s stock is still high with four years remaining on his contract, a sale could happen in 2025.
