How Manchester City’s players rated in their FA Cup thrashing of West Ham

Pablo Zabaleta – Seems to be making the defensive midfield position his own in the absence of Fernandinho, complimenting Yaya Toure well. Regularly found space in the opposition last third, and should have scored in the opening ten minutes but for an outstanding block from Reid. Won the controversial penalty with another surging run into the box. The new Lahm? 7.

Yaya Toure – All of the early season teething problems under Guardiola seem to be distant memory now after another commanding midfield performance from Toure. Slotted away his penalty nicely to continue his seamless record from the spot, and fired in the shot that Aguero flicked home. 7.

David Silva – The tricky little Spaniard ran the show last night, pulling the strings in the attacking third as West Ham’s defence struggled to compete with City’s short and sharp passing. Can’t think of a City attack that he wasn’t involved in, and his beautiful taken goal was just reward for an impressive display. 9.

Kevin de Bruyne – A fairly low-key game for the Belgian as he was overshadowed by midfield duo Silva and Sterling. Found himself dropping back deeper into midfield as Zabaleta surged forward, and will be interesting to see how he plays against Everton if Pep sticks with this strategy. 6.

Raheem Sterling – Looked lively from the first whistle at London Stadium, causing poor Nordtveit problem after problem with his change of pace just days after Rashford had done the same. His lung-busting run into the box made the second goal, and his quick one-two cut open West Ham’s defence for him to lay the ball on a plate to Silva. Growing into the side hugely under Pep’s guidance. 9.
