How Manchester City rated in their 2-1 defeat to league leaders Chelsea

Manchester City travelled to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea in a top of the table clash on Wednesday evening.

With Antonio Conte’s London outfit in first place, this was a great opportunity for Pep Guardiola’s travelling Citizens to take points from their rivals in order to close the gap at the top of the table.

However, an Eden Hazard double, either side of Sergio Aguero’s strike for the away side, saw Chelsea emerge as 2-1 victors.

Here’s how Manchester City side rated in their defeat at Stamford Bridge…

Willy Caballero – The Argentinian was beaten twice by Eden Hazard, yet he did make a penalty save. The first goal should’ve been dealt with as he failed to save a deflected shot and the second goal, a rebound from a penalty, could’ve been parried away from danger. It wasn’t his best night – 6

Jesus Navas – The winger turned right-back put in a decent display, getting forward at every possible occasion but overall the Spaniard did nothing spectacular – 5

John Stones – Stones deserves credit for keeping Diego Costa off the scoresheet and the Englishman often stole the ball away from the Chelsea striker. He has to take some of the blame for the first goal, however, as he could’ve communicated better with Kompany to stop Hazard’s shot – 7
