How Luis Campos feels about leaving PSG after links with replacing Edu at Arsenal

TBR Football exclusively understands that Paris Saint-Germain strategic advisor Luis Campos is very happy in France despite links with a new role at Arsenal.

Since November of last year, Arsenal have officially been operating without a sporting director after Edu Gaspar left the club.

Edu has now taken a role with Evaneglos Marinakis’ multi-club group, which includes Premier League side Nottingham Forest.

In terms of Arsenal’s operations since, Edu’s former assistant Jason Ayto has stepped into a more prominent role at the Emirates Stadium, working closely with Richard Garlick.

It is possible that Ayto could benefit from a promotion in some capacity in the near future, but there still could be a possible place for another expert to come in.

Luis Campos has previously not been keen on a move to England

That being said, TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey understands that Campos is very happy with his situation at PSG despite recent links between him and Arsenal.

Reports in France are suggesting that Arsenal have been in contact with Campos, however the Ligue 1 champions are intent on keeping the 60-year-old.

PSG want to tie Campos down to a new deal and have essentially asked him to name his new role – they want him to be more than an advisor.

Campos had previously held conversations with Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool, Manchester City, Aston Villa and Newcastle United in the last decade, but a move to England has never overly appealed.

Campos joined PSG from Celta de Vigo back in 2022 and has helped oversee the French club transition through the departures of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe – significant turning points for the club.

And ahead of facing Liverpool in their upcoming Champions League tie, PSG are now a team who relies less on individual stars, boasting a stronger collective talent.

Arsenal putting plans in place for a big summer of spending

Of course, Arsenal are set for a big summer of spending having resisted the temptation to execute any short-term deals in January.

The Gunners remain in the market for a new striker and Arsenal want either Alexander Isak first and foremost.

In addition, Arsenal want to sign two new midfielders, perhaps explaining why they look to have their sporting director situation sorted before then.

Arsenal have been offered multiple sporting directors, and it remains to be seen how their set-up will look for the new season.

But what is for certain – Arsenal need to execute their summer plans well in order for Arteta to better-placed to win the Premier League next season.
