How likely is a reported swap deal between Arsenal and Manchester City’s star players?
In what would undoubtedly go down as one of the most sensational transfer deals in history, the believe that talks have been held over a potential swap deal which would see Alexis Sanchez move to Manchester City with Sergio Aguero going to Arsenal.
Would Manchester City entertain the idea?
It’s quite likely that they would. It’s become clear that the Chilean is one of their top targets this summer and is a much better fit into Pep Guardiola’s style of play than Sergio Aguero is. Aguero’s struggles to fit in to that style have been seen already with him spending time on the bench in 2016/17 and may lead to a move.
It would be a very hefty price to pay to allow their fans’ hero to leave to bring Sanchez to the Etihad, but it may be considered if it is the only way to secure his services.
However, it’s always been thought that the club would prefer to sell him abroad rather than to a competitor if Aguero is to demand a move. Arsenal would represent one of their top competitors for the Premier League title and this would gift them the kind of signing many of their fans can only dream of.

Would Arsenal be keen on a swap?
It seems unlikely. The Gunners have always remained insistent that Alexis Sanchez is going nowhere this summer despite having just one year left on his existing contract at the Emirates.
Arsene Wenger has been on the look-out for a top quality centre forward and Aguero would fit that mound perfectly, considering his proven track record. That said, coming at such a price would be a huge gamble and one that the Frenchman is unlikely to be willing to take.
It’s hard to imagine that even the offer of a player of Aguero’s calibre would be enough to persuade Wenger to reconsider. It would also leave the manager looking elsewhere for an option to replace Sanchez when he plays out wide and would make it a nonsensical move all round.
