How Jose Mourinho’s Roma could line-up next season with 5 Premier League signings
Jose Mourinho will be hoping to become the first manager to get his hands on the UEFA Conference League to cap off his first season as AS Roma boss.
The Portuguese took over at the Stadio Olimpico last summer and he immediately brought in familiar faces from the Premier League.
Rui Patricio and Tammy Abraham joined the Giallorossi and Ainsley Maitland-Niles arrived from Arsenal on a loan deal in January.
Having managed a wealth of different names during his time in the Premier League we fully expect the former Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur manager to try and bring some familiar faces to the Italian capital this summer.

Rui Patricio
The Italian giants signed the Portuguese international from Wolves for last summer and the 34-year-old has been Mourinho’s number one.
After signing on a three-year deal, Patricio, who has been capped 102 times for Portugal, is likely to start next season as Roma’s first choice goalkeeper.
Patricio has played 50 matches in his debut campaign and has missed just one match all season.
Diogo Dalot
When Manchester United signed Dalot from Porto for in June 2018, Jose Mourinho, who was manager of the Red Devils at the time said the twenty-time league champions were getting the “best young full-back in Europe”.
Dalot only played under Mourinho six times at United before the 59-year-old was sacked.
The Portuguese international has struggled to establish himself as United’s number one right-back despite featuring more frequently under interim boss Ralf Rangnick.
A lot will depend on where United’s number 20 fits in with Erik ten Hag’s plans, but the 23-year-old had a successful season-long loan spell with AC Milan two years ago, and according to newspaper , Mourinho is eyeing up a reunion with his compatriot.
Eric Bailly
The Ivorian was Jose Mourinho’s first Manchester United signing after taking the Old Trafford reins from Louis van Gaal in June 2016.
The Reds paid Villarreal and Mourinho said United’s number three had “the potential to become one of the best around”.
Despite signing a new three-year deal with United last April, the 28-year-old has become United’s fifth choice centre-back at the Theatre of Dreams, falling below Phil Jones.
Bailly is yet to feature for United in 2022 and a could help rebuild his stagnating career.
Gianluca Mancini
The former Atalanta man has been at the heart of Mourinho’s defence all season and at the age of 26, the seven-time Italy international is entering his prime years.
Although ex-Red Devil Chris Smalling has played regularly this season, Mourinho could well seek an upgrade on the England international and pursue a summer move for Bailly who could partner Mancini.
Leonardo Spinazzola
One of the forgotten men in European football, the flying left-back was one of the stars of the 2020 European Championships.
But after rupturing his Achilles tendon in the quarter-finals against Belgium, Spinazzola only made his return to action as a late substitute in Roma’s 2-0 defeat to Fiorentina last night.
The 29-year-old will be hoping to return to full fitness and play a key role in Mourinho’s side next season.
Douglas Luiz
The former Manchester City man’s contract with Aston Villa expires next summer and Steven Gerrard could decide to cash in on the Brazilian international if he doesn’t sign a new deal at Villa Park.
With Mourinho potentially offering European football and with places in the Brazil World Cup squad up for grabs, Luiz, who like Dalot and Bailly has been , could be tempted to pursue a move.
Nemanja Matic
It wouldn’t be a surprise to see the Serbian and Jose Mourinho link up for the third time in their careers.
Mourinho brought Matic back to Stamford Bridge from Benfica and then signed him at Old Trafford.
