How could Liverpool line-up if they complete the £35m signing of Roma’s Mohamed Salah?

According to reports from the  early this morning, Liverpool’s main summer target Mohamed Salah is set to fly into England at some point today ahead of a Premier League return.

The 25-year-old Egyptian international has been playing his football in Italy for the past few years after a failed spell at Chelsea, but it seems he is now on the verge of coming back to the top-flight.

The report suggests that a fee of around £35 million has been agreed between Jurgen Klopp’s side and current club Roma, with a potential extra £5 million in add-ons.

It is believed that terms have already been agreed between the two parties – allegedly a five-year deal will be worth around £90,000-per-week – and now Salah is on his way to complete his Anfield medical.

But, with the likes of Philippe Coutinho, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane in the side, will he fit in?

Will the 25-year-old be a regular first-team player at Liverpool?

For Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp to make him his priority this transfer window suggests that the German must have a lot of confidence in Salah – and therefore must see him as a first-team player.

A transfer fee of £35 million is a lot to pay for somebody that will just keep the bench warm for the majority of the season, and with Liverpool back in Europe this year the added strength could be key.

This is where Klopp is trying to build up his squad for the new season, looking to bring together a strong enough group of players that can challenge for both domestic and Champions League titles.

And with Philippe Coutinho, Sadio Mane, Adam Lallana, Roberto Firmino, Divock Origi, and potentially Salah, there’s certainly no shortage of goals, creativity and industry within the Liverpool ranks.

How could Liverpool line-up for the start of next season?

Obviously it’s needless to say that the above line-up doesn’t cater for any other potential movement both in or out of Anfield this summer, but it gives a clear indication as to Salah’s role in the side.

Klopp made it clear that he wanted to bring in a fast, agile wide player that knows how to find the back of the net, and in Mohamed Salah there aren’t many wingers as in-form and confident as him right now.

A tally of 15 goals and 11 assists in Serie A is a decent return for a man that looked devoid of confidence just a few years back at Stamford Bridge, helping Roma enjoy one of their best Serie A campaigns in recent history as they finished above the likes of Napoli, AC Milan and Inter into second place.

The Egyptian talisman has created more chances (134) than anybody else at Roma since joining the side back in 2016 and – something Klopp will love – his versatility in the final third will benefit the Reds.
