How Benjamin Sesko talks have impacted Rasmus Hojlund’s future at Manchester United

TBR Football confirm that Manchester United’s talks with Benjamin Sesko have once again brought Rasmus Hojlund into the thinking of a host of clubs.

Earlier in the summer, Inter Milan pushed hard for Hojlund, but the Italian giants were only willing to do a loan deal as they also worked to sign Parma’s Ange-Yoan Bonny.

Sources have confirmed to TBR Football that Inter remain keen on the Danish attacker, but they are not the only club who are considering a move.

This week, TBR Football can reveal that intermediaries again touched base with several clubs about the prospect of Hojlund leaving.

Exclusive: Rasmus Hojlund likely to leave Man United should Benjamin Sesko sign

Rasmus Hojlund is likely to leave Manchester United this summer should the Red Devils finalise a deal to sign Sesko, TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey expects.

The 13-time Premier League champions have been open to Hojlund staying, but with interest in Sesko increasing, it only underlines the fact that he has little future as a starter under Ruben Amorim at Old Trafford.

Speaking about his situation, Bailey told TBR Football: “Rasmus Hojlund knows he is not wanted by Man United as first choice, he knows they have been talking to strikers all summer – let’s not forget they were trying for Liam Delap in early July. Now it is Benjamin Sesko.

“United have not directly told him he can leave, and vice-versa, Hojlund has not demanded to leave – but I am told they have talked and he knows where he stands. If Sesko or another new number nine arrives, Hojlund is likely to leave.”

Hojlund scored in the early hours on Thursday in United’s 4-1 win over Bournemouth in the United States, as he led the line for Amorim’s side.

The Red Devils certainly won’t be in a rush to offload the striker, given they paid £72m to sign him two years ago and the fact that he is still only 22.

Man United still believe in Hojlund and there remains a sense at Old Trafford that he can become good, but a move for Sesko certainly decreases those chances.

The Denmark international earns around £85k-per-week, as per , meaning there is no rush to offload him in that sense either.

Erik Ten Hag would happily be reunited with Rasmus Hojlund

TBR Football can also confirm interest in Germany, where Erik Ten Hag would happily be reunited with him at Bayer Leverkusen, whilst Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig are keen.

Ten Hag was a big fan of Hojlund during his time at Man United, having been the manager to bring him to the Theatre of Dreams in the first place.

Indeed, some at Leipzig would believe he could be a good replacement for Sesko himself, and there is a potential that he will be discussed during talks.

Amongst the clubs who have been contacted are AC Milan and Juventus, both of whom are in the market for a striker.

Despite his poor form in England, the former Atalanta star remains in high regard amongst some of Serie A’s biggest clubs.

Milan are in talks with Juve about a deal for Dusan Vlahovic, and the Old Lady is trying to finalise a deal for Randal Kolo Muani. But, at this stage, neither deal is close, and both clubs have now held fresh talks about Hojlund.

United were not keen on a loan deal earlier this summer, but it remains to be seen whether their stance will change.
