How Arsenal feel about signing Kingsley Coman after holding talks with Bayern Munich star

Arsenal don’t see Bayern Munich forward Kingsley Coman as a first-choice option, TBR Football can exclusively reveal.

28-year-old Coman is ready to leave the Bundesliga this summer after winning eight league titles with Bayern Munich.

As a result, Arsenal have been linked with Coman, a player who was even on Arsene Wenger’s radar 10 or so years ago.

New Arsenal sporting director Andrea Berta has recognised the need for a new left-sided right-footed winger — a brief that Coman fits.

And along with a host of top Premier League sides, Coman’s agents have offered their clients services to Arsenal, who have engaged in some conversations.

Arsenal are showing very little interest in Kingsley Coman

However, TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey can reveal that although Arsenal could afford a deal for Coman, who is on lofty wages at Bayern, there’s no real interest on the Gunners’ side.

Arsenal haven’t rejected a deal as it stands, but they don’t see the French winger as their first choice option — a stance shared by the likes of Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur.

Coman’s agents and Bayern are in agreement that the France international should move on this summer and both are doing their work.

Aside from the Premier League, the Saudi Pro League like Coman and would welcome him, that is an option in the bag.

However, Coman’s camp are also now doing checks elsewhere and the Premier League is still prevailing as the prime landing spot for the winger.

Paris Saint-Germain aren’t in the race for a Coman reunion and the winger isn’t gathering too much interest from Italy either, even if Napoli have shown minor intrigue.

Nico Williams remains Arsenal’s number one target

Of course, part of the reason Arsenal may not be chasing Coman at this point could be because of the work they are doing elsewhere.

Berta has held talks with Nico Williams at Athletic Bilbao, a young Spanish winger who’s been admired by Mikel Arteta for some time.

Just like Coman, Williams would demand big wages at the Emirates Stadium, but Arsenal might be more willing to commit those funds to a player with a longer future ahead.

Arsenal aren’t out of the race for Coman by any means, but as it stands the 28-year-old will not be top of Berta’s list, an Italian with a very busy summer ahead.

And aside from strengthening Arsenal’s attack, Berta will also need to replace Thomas Partey as things stand, a player who is edging closer to leaving the club for free.
