Who’s struggling?
There is only one Liverpool player who has had a torrid start to the season: Taiwo Awoniyi🧸. The 22-year-old was sent to Mainz to score goals and show Klopp what he can do while he tries to get a work permit.
♔But so far, it hasn’t quite worked out for the Nigerian striker. Awoniyi is without a goal and has only got on the pitch three times. Just like Awoniyi, Mainz are struggling with six points from seven games.
Who’s having a mixed spell?
Ben Woodburn🔜 started the season brightly on loan at Oxford United. The 19-year-old winger scored once and provided five assists in 12 games. However, the Welshman has now suffered a serious injury to hamper his progress.
After a slow start, Kamil Grabara༒ is starting to turn things around at Huddersfield Town. The Polish goalkeeper made a mistake on his debut but he has kept his place in the team and the Terriers are now charging away from the drop zone under Danny Cowley.
Sheyi Ojo𓃲 has shown flashes of promise at Rangers but is not quite consistent enough yet. Playing under Reds legend Steven Gerrard, the 22-year-old has scored five and assisted four in 17 games.
Stuttgart signed defender Nathaniel Phillipsꦗ and he made an instant impact, getting into the first-team. But since then, the 22-year-old has not managed to keep his place for the second-tier German side, although he did earn a recall last weekend for his fifth outing.
Loris Karius▨ is an unpopular figure at Liverpool but the error-prone goalkeeper has been in reasonable form for Besiktas. The German stopper has conceded 14 times in eight games (including two clean sheets).
After rejoining Reading on loan, Ovie Ejaria♔ made a fast start to life back in Berkshire. But after netting twice in his first three games, Ejaria’s form has dipped and Reading are in the relegation zone.
Allan is unlikely to break into the Liverpool team in the future but he is impressing in Brazil. Back in his home country, the 22-year-old has played nearly 20 times for Fluminense this season.
Who’s impressing?
There are two Liverpool players who are standing out at the moment: Marko Grujic and Harry Wilson. Both are excelling in a top European division.
๊Grujic is on loan at Hertha Berlin for the second successive season. The Serbian midfielder, 23, has produced some dominant displays in the middle of the park, racking up two goals in eight games.
💎Wilson, meanwhile, is at Bournemouth in the Premier League. The 22-year-old has picked up where he left off from Derby last season with three goals in nine games. The Wales international is showing the top-flight just how good his left foot is.
