How Aaron Ramsdale feels about potential Newcastle move in January

A report has shared how Aaron Ramsdale feels about the prospect of joining Newcastle United in the January transfer window, after Nick Pope sustained a serious injury at the weekend.

The Magpies were dealt a huge blow at the weekend. Nick Pope went off during the second-half of their 1-0 win over Manchester United. And is now reporting that the England international will miss the next four months, at least, after he dislocated his shoulder.

It would, therefore, be no surprise to see Eddie Howe’s target a new goalkeeper in January, if not sooner. The Times reports that David de Gea is open to joining Newcastle. The Spaniard remains a free agent after leaving Old Trafford in the summer.

But another name who could end up on Tyneside is Aaron Ramsdale. Of course, the 25-year-old is no longer first choice at Arsenal. And you would imagine that he would not be willing to put up with being David Raya’s backup for too long.

, in fact, is reporting that Ramsdale would be open to joining Newcastle in January. However, there is a problem.

The report adds that the Gunners want £50 million for Ramsdale. And that asking price is likely to put Newcastle off.

Something has to give, but move could be ideal for Arsenal goalkeeper

It is hardly a surprise that Ramsdale is open to joining Newcastle. He cannot be happy with his situation at the Emirates. And anyone in and around the England squad has Euro 2024 to think about.

Some have not been impressed with how Mikel Arteta has treated Ramsdale. He has been ‘‘ since he moved to the Emirates. And if a club of Newcastle’s stature would be open to doing a deal, of course, he should be tempted.

But clearly, Arsenal will need to drop their asking price if a move to St James’ Park is going to take place. And there is little incentive for the Gunners to do that as they compete in the Premier League and the Champions League.
