‘Horrific’… Chris Sutton couldn’t believe what 23-year-old Celtic player did in win vs Dundee yesterday
Celtic’s win over Dundee yesterday afternoon was, eventually, an emphatic one in The City of Discovery.
In a first-half full of relentless pressure, Brendan Rodgers‘ side absolutely dominated the match. With 79% possession and 19 shots on goal with nine on target [], Celtic still went into the break level as they failed to break the deadlock.
However, there was an opportunity during the game for Luis Palma that should have opened the scoring after the Honduran found himself unmarked at the Dundee back post.
A floated cross in from the right left Palma with just the keeper to beat and instead of nodding home from about five yards, the winger put the ball past the post. And the miss elicited this reaction from former Celtic hero, Chris Sutton.
Sutton said [], “Some of the last-ditch defending from Dundee has been very good.
“How many more opportunities are Celtic going to miss? It’s a horrific miss from Palma at the back post.”
Luis Palma was outstanding for Celtic vs Dundee
Despite that miss, the Honduran was absolutely brilliant for Celtic in the win over Dundee. Rated 9.1 by , Palma put in one of his best performances of the season for Brendan Rodgers.
Adding another assist to his season total of nine in 20 appearances in the Hoops [], Palma has made his £3.5m transfer fee look like a bargain.
Palma was at his attacking best creating a further eleven chances, with three shots on goal and, obviously, missed that one big chance.

With a passing accuracy of 70%, Palma also had eleven touches in Dundee’s final third.
Defensively, Palma continues to improve. Winning ten of his duels, the winger also made one clearance, five defensive actions and four ball recoveries.
The 23-year-old attacker continues to impress and his upsurge in form could not have come at a better time.
With the top-of-the-table clash with Rangers looming, Brendan Rodgers will be hoping that Palma will produce another performance like this to help keep all three points at Celtic Park.
