‘Horribly wrong’… BBC pundit thought £13m West Ham player was really poor against Man United today
It was certainly a disappointing result and performance for West Ham United against Manchester United at Old Trafford today.
David Moyes’ side showed very little of the steel that has put them in such a good position both domestically and in Europe this season.

Despite starting the game fairly well, Rasmus Hojlund was allowed to give United the lead in the first half, seemingly confusing the whole West Ham defence with a cut to his right-foot.
And from there, West Ham didn’t show the cutting edge needed to bring themselves level.
Jarrod Bowen had a quiet day, as did Mohammed Kudus, and the decision not to replace either Said Benrahma or Pablo Fornals already looks a peculiar one.
That being said, it was actually Emerson who had the golden chance to get Moyes’ side level after the break.
The full-back wasted his chance after crafting the opportunity himself with a high press, a chance that was swiftly followed by a United second.
And when watching the game for , former Everton player James McFadden was not at all impressed by Emerson’s display.
Emerson proved costly for West Ham against Manchester United today
Not only did the Italian full-back miss his big chance, but he was then turned far too easily by Alejandro Garnacho for his first goal.
It wasn’t the best minute or so for the defender, who will surely rue the role he played in the result.

Discussing the sliding-doors moment, McFadden said: “That was a huge opportunity for West Ham. Martinez doesn’t pressure but Emerson gets his shot horribly wrong.
“That’s what happens when you don’t take your chances. 30 seconds later, Man United have the ball in the back of the net.”
As mentioned, West Ham do now have a thin squad this season, one made smaller by the January window.
And although the West Ham paid for Emerson still represents good value, the Italian does need better competition.
34-year-old Aaron Creswell isn’t necessarily pushing for a start these days, and it is an area that can be improved.
That being said, Roy Keane thinks a different West Ham player will be fuming with David Moyes at United today.
