‘Horrendous’: Sky pundit shocked by £10m Leeds player v Tottenham

Leeds United have plenty to ponder over the coming weeks as the Premier League season grinds to a halt for the World Cup.

The Whites began the season brightly, their 3-0 win over Chelsea suggesting they were in for a good campaign.

However, Leeds have won just four of their 14 league games so far this season.

In addition, Jesse Marsch’s charges have been defensively poor and have failed to hold onto quite a few leads.

Take the Fulham game. Leeds were 1-0 up after 20 minutes, but ended up being 3-1 down by the 90th minute.

Crysencio Summerville did score in injury time, but it was too little too late.

Although Leeds got away with it against Liverpool and Bournemouth, they weren’t so lucky at Tottenham.

The Whites went ahead three times, only for Spurs to equalise each time – before grabbing a late winner.

And as well as defensive frailties, discipline is another thing Marsch and his coaches must look at.

Leeds finished with ten men after Tyler Adams got a second yellow card late on.

And they could’ve been down to nine, though Marc Roca was lucky not to get a straight red for his foul on Eric Dier.

The man appeared to rake his studs down the back of the Spurs player’s calf.

Roca got a booking for his troubles, but Sky Sports pundit Tim Sherwood felt it should’ve been a red.

“They should be down to ten men,” Sherwood said on Soccer Saturday, via .

“Marc Roca made an horrendous tackle on Eric Dier, he should’ve got a straight red.”
