After two years outside of Europe’s top competition, Tottenham Hotspur are back in the Champions League.

Antonio Conte guided Spurs to a fourth-place finish last season, and has spent the summer updating his squad.

Perisic spoke about a number of topics, but one that grabbed his attention was the Champions League.

The Croatian international has history in the competition, winning the trophy with Bayern Munich in 2020.

Perisic has played over 50 games in the Champions League, providing invaluable European experience to Tottenham’s squad.

Perisic says Tottenham squad are talking about the Champions League

: “We have to continue to work because there is a lot of good games coming up, and also for the Champions League games.

“I had a few really good moments in the past in the Champions League but I want more.

“I am hungry and I also spoke with other players and we can’t wait, really. We feel that something special is coming up.

“Honestly, we have to go for the first place and we have start thinking like this.

“It’s important for the draw later. I think we can go for first place in the group.”

It’s really encouraging for Tottenham that the players are eager to perform in the Champions League.

It’s no surprise the squad are highly motivated, given how animated Conte can be when talking to his players.

Spurs have been drawn in a Champions League group with Eintracht Frankfurt, Marseille and Sporting CP.

Perisic’s claim that Tottenham’s squad are talking about doing something special in the Champions League is no surprise.

They could have definitely had a tougher draw, and should be progressing to the knockout stages with ease.
