Report: Arsenal likely to put ‘brilliant’ ace up for sale as White closes in on move

Arsenal ace Rob Holding is likely to be for sale in this summer’s transfer window, according to .

The move comes amidst reports the Gunners are closing in on a move for Brighton defender Ben White. Mikel Arteta’s men are close to agreeing on a £50m deal with the Seagulls for the England international.

Signing the 23-year-old would leave the Spaniard with three right-sided centre-halves at his disposal. And with Arsenal failing to qualify for Europe last season, game time will be limited next campaign.

Holding, described as ‘‘, signed a new contract with the north London giants back in January.

Despite all his injury issues with the Gunners, Holding was a key part of the team last term. The former Bolton man started in 28 of the 38 Premier League games with Arsenal conceding the third-least number of goals.

TBR View: Holding transfer would be baffling move from Arsenal

Recent reports concerning a move for White had fans sweating on the future of William Saliba.

The Frenchman has failed to make a single first-team appearance since his £27m move from Saint-Etienne. Reports claimed that defender could leave the club on a permanent deal.

It left the Emirates Stadium faithful feeling worried about his future at the club.

However, it seems Holding could be the fall guy from the signing of White. And given his consistency last season that is a tad surprising.

The Englishman was one of the only shining lights from an otherwise poor campaign. Arsenal’s eighth place finish was their lowest since the 1994/1995 season.

There was a definite improvement in the defensive third with Holding playing a huge part. He made the per game last term.

To see Holding linked with a transfer away from Arsenal is baffling to say the least. He was in brilliant form last year, and should be retained ahead of next term.
