Hoffenheim manager confirms Joelinton is on his way to Newcastle

that Brazilian ace Joelinton is on his way to Newcastle United this summer, with the fee believed to be in the region of £36million.

The 22-year-old starlet has been heavily linked with a move to Newcastle this summer, after first being reportedly eyed by Newcastle before the end of the 2018-19 campaign. He shone in the Bundesliga last term.

Indeed, the Brazil youth international found the back of the net 11 times in all competitions, as well as laying on nine assists in 35 outings. He played up front, on both flanks and even in the number 10 role.

Nothing has been confirmed as to what would be a club-record deal for Newcastle, eclipsing Miguel Almiron’s £21million move in January. But Schreuder has stated that it is a “shame” that Joelinton is leaving.

“It’s not my decision, that’s what the club does,” . “It’s always the same in football. When players leave, it also opens up room for other players, of course it’s a shame he’s leaving, but it’s also a matter of philosophy.”

TBR’s view – Joelinton ideal Newcastle replacement for Perez

With Newcastle cashing in on Spaniard Perez this summer after he joined Leicester City for £30million, it appears The Toon have spent £6millon more to land a player with even more potential.

Perez impressed last season, scoring 13 goals and finishing the campaign as Newcastle’s top scorer. But Perez turns 26 at the end of the month, and Joelinton is four years his junior.

If Joelinton can match Perez’s contribution at Newcastle next season, then selling Perez and bringing in the Brazilian is excellent business by Newcastle’s board. However, if he flops, The Toon will struggle.
