‘His finishing is similar’: Tottenham reportedly close to signing a striker who finishes like Harry Kane
The January transfer window is full of surprises, and Tottenham appear to be about to make a very left-field signing.
Indeed, to Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, Spurs are close to signing Timo Werner on loan from RB Leipzig with an option to buy.
The German striker has, of course, been in England before with Chelsea, and while he didn’t perform too well for the Blues, he was seemingly brilliant in training.
Werner received plenty of praise behind the scenes at Stamford Bridge even if his performances on the pitch weren’t too great, and one interesting piece of praise was from Ben Chilwell.
During his time at Chelsea, Chilwell, interestingly, Werner’s finishing to Harry Kane’s.

Werner finishes like Kane
Chilwell his verdict on Werner back when he was at Chelsea.
“He has similar characteristics to both Vards and Harry to be fair,’ Chilwell said.
“In terms of running the channels and how quick he is it’s similar to Vards.
“With Harry his link-up play and his finishing is similar. He’s definitely in a category with them two.”
Find that form
We didn’t see Werner being that clinical at all when he was at Chelsea, but there is a goalscorer in there somewhere.
Say what you will about the standard of the Bundesliga, Werner once scored 28 league goals in a season in Germany.
No matter where in the world you are, putting the ball into the back of the net is still a skill, and when he’s playing with confidence and has a bit of form behind him, Werner is brilliant at just that.
Spurs are yet to properly replace Kane, but with the right coaching and training, perhaps Werner could be the man to take the baton from Kane in terms of being Spurs’ main man in front of goal.
This is a very interesting move to say the least.
