In January last year, football.london claimed Arsenal had made contact with Bissouma’s representatives.

The same outlet in June that the 25-year-old had instructed his agent to try and get him to the Emirates.

Since then, however, there hasn’t been too much speculation on that front.

Nonetheless, Arsenal could still do with bolstering their midfield ranks.

At present, Mikel Arteta is missing Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny, who are at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Meanwhile, Hale End graduate Ainsley Maitland-Niles is on loan at Roma.

As for Liverpool, they have some great midfielders in their ranks.

However, they could also do with a high-quality, young and league-ready star for short, mid and long-term.

Bissouma is very much one of the best midfielders outside of the conventional Premier League title challengers.

And Bent, speaking to , reckons Arsenal would benefit from the Mali international in their ranks.

In turn, Bissouma would turn into a “top player” in the Premier League, added the pundit.

“I would like to see Arsenal go and get Yves Bissouma,” Bent said on

“I really like him, I think he’s a top, top player, I think he’s gettable as well.

“Him and Partey in the middle of the park, that is what you call protection for the back four.

“You let the likes of Smith Rowe and Odegaard bomb forward.

“If you can get Yves Bissouma, I think he’d turn into a top player in this league.”

According to , Brighton want £50million for their player.
