Heung-Min Son shares his honest thoughts on Dominic Solanke’s Tottenham debut

On the whole, Dominic Solanke enjoyed a very productive debut in a Tottenham Hotspur shirt, fitting seamlessly into Ange Postecoglou’s front three as many imagined.

Heung-Min Son was able to return to the left-wing as Tottenham hoped this season, one of the many benefits of Solanke arriving at the club.

Dejan Kulusevski, who it was a surprise not to see in the starting XI on Monday evening, played as Spurs’ striker for some of pre-season, seemingly acting as placeholder for Solanke’s arrival.

But with the Englishman on board, Postecoglou now has a much more harmonious look to his front line, one that finally has a focal point.

Postecoglou provided his thoughts on Solanke’s performance shortly after last night’s game, encouraged by his first glimpses of the striker in a Tottenham shirt.

Of course, after missing a couple of chances against Leicester City, Solanke will be hoping to score his first Spurs goal in north London on Saturday when Everton come to visit.

Heung-Min Son praises Dominic Solanke for his unseen work for Tottenham

Ahead of the aforementioned game, Son has now shared his thoughts on Solanke’s initial minutes in Spurs colours via beIN SPORTS.

Son praised Solanke’s performance with and without the ball, already recognising the industry that the striker provides.

The Tottenham captain even then found time to praise a couple of the club’s youngsters, the likes of Archie Gray, Lucas Bergvall and Djed Spence.

Son said: “I think Dom was doing a really good job in the striker’s job. Not just with the ball, but without it as well.

“He was pressing really well, making problems for defenders. So all the young players like Archie, Lucas, even Djed did a good job.

“I’m happy to see them on the pitch. But that’s what we are here for. They are happy to be here but we need to win this game so we need a big performance and big attitude.”

Of course, Spurs goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario wasn’t happy with Bergvall for one mistake he made towards the end of Tottenham’s draw on Monday – a moment which sparked debate among the club’s supporters.
