Heung-Min Son says Gareth Bale used to always pick on £15m player at Tottenham

Gareth Bale is undoubtedly one of the most talented players the Premier League has ever seen.

Bale was a superstar of the game during his playing days, and his incredible talents made him a fan favourite at Tottenham.

However, Bale was also popular behind the scenes at Spurs.

Bale had plenty of friends at Spurs, and during his second-spell at Tottenham he formed a clique known as the ‘Welsh mafia’ alongside Ben Davies, Joe Rodon, and, somewhat bizarrely, Heung-Min Son

Speaking on Sky Sports, Son has been discussing his relationship with Gareth Bale at Tottenham, and he says that the attacker was hilarious during his time in north London, noting that he’d often pick on Joe Rodon in hilarious ways.

Gareth Bale would pick on Joe Rodon at Tottenham

Son spoke about what Bale was like behind the scenes at Spurs.

According to Son, Bale was very childish at Tottenham, claiming that he would often pick on Joe Rodon and have a laugh with the man.

“I mean, he was so so childish. He was in a very fun way, he was bullying Joe sometimes and it was so funny. Joe accepted it as well, and I would also have accepted it as well because he’s such a legend,” Son said.

What Gareth Bale said about Joe Rodon

Son says that Bale used to bully Rodon, but this was nothing more than a bit of banter between two good friends.

Indeed, Bale and Rodon were famously very close at Spurs, and Bale was a fan of Rodon on the pitch too.

Bale tipped Rodon to become one of the best defenders in the Premier League at one point.

“He has come on leaps and bounds this season, made such a progression in his football, he has got better and better and looks like a real strong defender, sharp, and he is looking better and better. He will be one of the top defenders in the Premier League in years to come,” Bale said.

Unfortunately, things haven’t quite worked out the way Bale expected to for Rodon.

The Welshman has since left Tottenham for Leeds United where he’s now playing in the Championship rather than starring in the Premier League.

However, with Leeds potentially set for promotion this season, we may soon see Rodon back playing at the top level, and who knows? Perhaps one day he could even reach the potential that Bale touted him to have.
