A position that Arsenal were trying to recruit in during the summer was central midfield.

Aston Villa’s Douglas Luiz was a key target, but he’s now signed a new deal at his current side.

There was also another Brazilian who Arsenal were desperate to bring in right at the very end of the summer window.

Young midfielder Danilo was that player, and now it seems he’s on his way to the Premier League.

, who has said that the 21-year-old won’t be signing for Arsenal.

Arsenal target Danilo heading to the Premier League

: “I’ve heard that Danilo at Palmeiras, of course a player that Arsenal have been interested in before, that he is very close to a move to a Premier League club.

“But, that club is not Arsenal. Arsenal have not shown any further interest in Danilo since September.

“So, we might well be seeing him moving to the Premier League very soon, but as far as I’m aware it’s not the club who has now made a bid and are in the final stages of trying to get it done, but it’s not Arsenal.

“We shall see if he does make a move to England, and if he does it’ll be interesting to watch how he gets on.

“It hasn’t gone through yet, I don’t know who the club is, but I have been told that he’s very close to a potential move to a Premier League club, and an official bid has been made.”

, it will be interesting to see where he ends up.

Danilo is clearly a very talented player, and it’s no surprise he’s now found his way to the Premier League.

There will still be some Arsenal fans concerned about what the club will do if Thomas Partey picks up an injury.

Not strengthening in that position does put a lot of pressure on the Ghanaian over the next few months.

However, it won’t be Danilo that’s brought in as back-up this month according to Watts.
