‘He’s very clever’: Tim Sherwood thinks Leeds United man is amazing at winding the opposition up

Tim Sherwood has claimed that Leeds United manager Jesse Marsch is great at winding people up.

Marsch has had his fair share of touchline antics already this season.

He received a one-match touchline ban last month after an argument with the fourth official against Brentford.

Marsch was sent off after his Leeds side were denied a penalty.

“I was speaking with the fourth official, trying to be as respectful as I possibly could, even when a penalty was given that I probably didn’t think was a penalty.

“And then you don’t see it reciprocated, the respect

“That’s what I would call it. That lack of VAR visit, in the end to me, is a lack of respect.”

There may be a few Leeds fans who will be hoping Marsch concentrates more on his own side’s performance than the opposition.

After a fantastic start to the season, Leeds have picked up just one point since the start of September.

Marsch capable of winding anyone up – Sherwood

Marsch had a fiery encounter with former Wolves boss Bruno Lage after their win on the opening day of the season.

“I wanted to be respectful afterwards but it didn’t quite go that way. I’m okay. I think he’s okay too.”

The American manager clearly has a knack of getting under people’s skin, but Sherwood thinks it’s done to get the Elland Road crowd going.

Against Chelsea, Marsch celebrated wildly as his side defeated Thomas Tuchel’s men, .

Newcastle United striker Callum Wilson also disagreed with Marsch’s comments on Aston Villa, saying they slowed the game down too much.

Marsch even moaned about Everton’s performance earlier this season, calling Frank Lampard’s side ‘boring’.

It’s safe to say there are few matches where Marsch hasn’t ended up aggravating a member of the opposition.

Sherwood said on TalkSPORT that Marsch is great at winding people up, and almost certainly would have been rattled himself.

“I’ll tell you the one at the moment, and I think he’s a good character. Jesse Marsch would wind me up,”

“He’s over the top, his bravado. I don’t think he’s playing to the cameras, I think he’s very clever.

“I think (he plays) to that Elland Road crowd base, and he knows if he gets them onside, and there’s a head of steam, it’s very difficult for the away team.

“So, I think he’s capable of winding anyone up.”
